Jason at TAFE re GIS students 4.3.09

The Grey water system subgroup is working towards the creation of a map for the Cairns region that will provide information on areas where systems may be installed and areas where installation will not comply with regulation. The group is working with the Cairns Regional Council and Tropical North Queensland TAFE GIS mapping students to complete the maps. Currently soil layers are being further identified for the Mount Sheridan pilot study area. Please see the document deposit relating to this work.

Our GIS teachers Aaron Crosbie and Tom Hamilton are keen to look at options for getting students involved in the grey water mapping project. Aaron has indicated the Diploma and Certificate III students could potentially undertake the mapping as part of the residential component of their courses. Perhaps we could meet in the next week or two to explore options for student involvement? Look forward to hearing from you soon.
