Insulation rebate includes roof and Reflective Thermal Insul
The insulation subgroup of the TGBN has secured an inclusion of Reflective Thermal Insulation in the Federal Dept of Environments Home Owner Insulation Programme.
The guidelines provided for the programme did not inlcude the Asutralian Standards supporting reflective thermal insulation (reflective foil laminates) which is an insulation type suited to the tropics due to its capacity to provide high down (summer) R values, vapour barrier and moisture repelling propoerties. The insulation is suited to installation under roof sheeting that is also better suited to low pitch roofs and cathedral or raked ceilings.
The Minister has now included the use of RFL's in the rebate and its installation under roof sheeting in Climate Zone 1 - North Queensland.
The letter from the Minster is attached.
