Construction Waste Tour
Thursday 24th September 2009 from 3 to 5 pm
Inspection of the:
• Material Recovery Facility 3 to 4pm
• SITA waste and composting facility (Bedminster) 4 to 5 pm
Located on the corner of Ray Jones Dr and Lyons street, Portsmith.
Construction waste currently makes up 40% of landfill. Part of the construction waste at the Portsmith facility is 200 tonnes per month of domestic concrete. There are limited resources to landfill with one of the sites being closed in a few months time. The TGBN connections with the construction industry may develop informed discussion providing material recovery solutions. During the inspection TGBN members will have the opportunity to identify and discuss opportunities to reduce and recycle construction waste.
