Appointment of new Urban Sustainability Officer

The TGBN is pleased to annouce that Anna McGuire is our newly appointed Urban Sustinability officer. Please fiind below a short BIO.
• A big thank you to Nic Skutenko from Blue Scope Water and Peter Collins from the HIA for taking the responsibility of being part of the interviewing process and selecting our new officer.
• Our 7th July meeting shall discuss priority projects and tasks to meet priorities.
• Discussion concerning some administrative functions will also take place at this meeting.

Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Sustainability from Victoria University, Melbourne in 2005 While studying in Melbourne, she also volunteered and worked at CERES Environmental Park where she gained skills and experience in a range of social and environmental sustainability initiatives, technologies and ideas.
In 2006 Anna moved to Townsville to complete an Honours project in Ecology and after working for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in Townsville and the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra then traveling and volunteering in South America, she moved to Cairns in 2009.
For the past seven months I’ve been working with the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre as Climate Change Project Officer including implementing a “Growing Solutions to Climate Change” project aiming to raise awareness of climate change and inspire people to reduce their carbon footprint and work towards sustainable urban communities.
