Waste Management - Seattle and Vancouver

The aim of the subgroup is to focus on Construction and Demolition waste. With the introduction of the new waste levy by the State Government in December 2011 and the knowledge that 'much of the C & D waste can be a recoverable resource’ the TGBN would like to move forward a regional strategy by planning for action on C&D waste recovery solutions with other industry stakeholders, LAWMAC and the FNQ Regional Organisation of Councils. Waste Management - Seattle and Vancouver

Attached are Seattle and Vancouver waste management systems documents where detailed waste management plans for C&D are in action. The attached information includes a Contractors Guide to Preventing Waste and Recycling; Construction Recycling Directory and Building De-construction Practices and Standards; and a Recycled Content Building Materials Product List. The literature provides us with working examples that can be used to formulate and implement our own best practice for recovering C&D waste in both private and public facilites. The documents have been kindly supplied by Peter Zieth, Architect GHD Cairns who worked in Canada as a LEEDS accredited Architect.
